The history of Larnaka ascends to pre-Christian times. During antiquity epoch Greek city Kition has been located on territory of modern Larnaka. According to local legend, it has been founded by one of legendary Noah grandsons - Kittim.

Sights of Larnaka:
- The Church of Lazarus (Agios Lazaros) is another magnificent Orthodox Church in Larnaca which was built in the town over the tomb of St. Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha. He died here and was buried in the church named after him. In 890 A.D. his tomb was found bearing the inscription "“Lazarus, bishop of Larnaca. Four days dead. Friend of Jesus.” The marble sarcophagus can be seen inside the church under the Holy of Holies.;
- An archaeological museum of Larnaka;
- Church Panaja Angeloсtisti on a legend has been constructed by angels;
- Stavrovuni friary. Is on the Cross mountain, it is one of the oldest monasteries of Cyprus. It is closed for visiting;
- Excavation of the city-state Kition;
- Tekke Hala Sultan mosque is one of the most important in the world of Muslim relics (1816);
- Pieridis museum, is in one of few remained country houses of XIX-th century. Here the big collection of ceramics, products from glass, samples of clothes, furniture and the weapon of different epoch, beginning from neolith to Middle Ages is presented.
